Green Homes are rated on the basis of HERS Index which is a scoring system established by RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network). A Home Energy Rating measures the energy efficiency of a home in United States and to earn the Energy Star, a home must meet the guidelines laid down by Environment Protection Agency for energy efficiency. The reason for this is simple – double glazing is better than single glazing for keeping heat in and cold out. Because of this, it has become the industry standard as it will save homeowners money and energy over the years.
